Losing your sponsorship is one of the most frightening things that can happen to an internationally recruited care worker. Maybe your employer's licence was revoked. Maybe your hours disappeared, or you were treated unfairly and had to walk away.
Whatever brought you here, please know this: support exists, it is free, and you have every right to use it.
Across the South East of England, your local care association is part of a network – backed by the Department of Health and Social Care and coordinated through the South East Social Care Alliance (SESCA) – set up specifically to help displaced and internationally recruited care workers find their feet again.
What kind of help is available?
Depending on your area, you may be able to access:
Finding a new sponsor – through the Displaced Worker scheme, you can be matched with reputable, vetted care providers looking to sponsor workers like you.
Knowing your rights – clear guidance on what to do if you lose your sponsorship or are being treated unfairly, plus the official Government support offer.
Money worries – grants through the Care Workers' Charity, financial advice, and local food banks if things are tight right now.
A roof over your head – help finding accommodation.
Wellbeing and community – mental health support, English language and learning, places of worship, and cultural and community groups so you don't have to face this alone.
