Last month, Tresacare was proud to host a stand at the Slough Job Fair – and what a day it was! Our focus was simple but urgent: helping to “matchmake” displaced international care workers with care providers who are actively looking to recruit skilled, compassionate staff.

With thousands of vacancies across the care sector, and many experienced care workers currently displaced and seeking sponsorship, the need for connection has never been greater. The Slough Job Fair gave us an opportunity to bring those two sides of the sector together in one room.

A Stand Full of Conversations

From the moment the doors opened, our stand was busy. We spoke with displaced care workers eager to return to work, many bringing years of hands-on experience, dedication, and a strong desire to contribute to their communities. We also met providers looking for committed staff who understand the realities of frontline care.

The energy was hopeful and practical – conversations focused on solutions, next steps, and real opportunities.

It was encouraging to see how many people were motivated not just by employment, but by purpose. Care workers spoke about wanting stability and dignity. Providers spoke about wanting reliability and compassion within their teams.

That shared commitment to care is what makes these matchmaking opportunities so powerful.

Why This Matters

There are still significant workforce shortages across social care. At the same time, many displaced international care workers are struggling to find new sponsors despite being ready and qualified to work.

Bridging that gap is essential.

Events like the Slough Job Fair remind us that solutions often begin with simple, human connection – a conversation, an introduction, an exchange of contact details. When we create spaces for care workers and providers to meet directly, we move from crisis to coordination.

Staying Connected

We were delighted to meet so many new faces and are already following up on promising conversations. We hope to stay in touch with everyone we met and to continue supporting connections that lead to meaningful employment and stable sponsorship.

Thank you to the organisers of the Slough Job Fair for bringing together such a vibrant and engaged community.

And to every care worker and provider who stopped by our stand – we’re looking forward to continuing the conversation!

Because when the right people connect, the whole system benefits.
