On March 18th, Celina and I attended the “Striving to Thriving” Wellbeing for Care Managers Symposium at The Charmandean Centre in Worthing – a full-day event focused on supporting care leaders across the sector.
We joined four other organisations, connecting with care managers and professionals committed to improving wellbeing and leadership in care.
Creating Space for Reflection
Our session began with a practical wellbeing exercise, designed to energise the room and bring participants into the present moment.
I then shared my personal experience as a mother of two little ones, alongside Liz’s perspective as both a former care worker and someone who has received care. We introduced Tresacare’s mission, why we exist, and the support we provide to care workers and care managers – along with the impact we’re seeing across the sector.
A Powerful Lesson in Communication
Our Business Educator, Celina, followed with an interactive session on communication and wellbeing. We asked participants to draw a simple scene based on instructions.
It continues to surprise me just how consistent the outcome is. As anyone who has participated in a session like this will know: every drawing turns out different!
The takeaway was clear: communication is not just about what we say, but how it’s understood. This got everyone to pause and reflect on the true importance of soft skills and communication in care.
Building Meaningful Connections

After the session, we had the opportunity to connect with a wide range of care managers and providers, many of whom came to our stand to continue the conversation and explore collaboration.
Events like this are a powerful reminder that when care professionals are given space to reflect, connect, and learn, it strengthens the entire system.
We’re grateful to have been part of such an engaging and energising day – and to everyone who took the time to connect with us!
